Year 11 - Decide
By the end of Year 11, you should have:
1. Visited as many Post-16 providers as you can - Sixth Forms, colleges, apprenticeship employers.
2. Completed applications to Sixth Forms, Colleges, or Apprenticeships
3. Had a Careers appointment with your advisor to talk through your options.
4. Compared courses and apprenticeships using Unifrog's search tools.
5. Finalised a Plan A and Plan B - know your firm choice and your backup. Complete this on Post 16 Destinations on Unifrog.
Ensure you know when the Sixth Form and College Open Days are. Visiting different Post 16 Options will help you decide where to study next
Sixth Form - The majority of Sixth Forms require 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths.
College - Requirements differ depending on what course you choose.
Level 2 Course - Biddenham does offer a 1 year course for students who have achieved a minimum Grade 3 in English and/or Maths, along with a minimum of four other Level 2 qualifications at grade 2 or above. The aim of the Level 2 Course is for the students to improve their GCSE Grades in order to progress to A Level/Level 3 qualifications.
Level 1 - GCSE (Grade 1-3)
Level 2 - GCSE (Grade 4+)
Level 3 - A Levels/V Levels/T Levels
Note: you typically need 4 to 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths to be able to study a Level 3 qualification.
There are lots of new subjects you can pick at A Level. Make sure you find out about all of them at Open Evenings. Ask lots of Questions and always check entry requirements.
