My name is Leila Klyde, and I teach Science and Social Studies. This will be my 9th year teaching 6th grade at Nixon Academy.  I previously taught 2nd and 3rd grade here, and 4th and 5th in LAUSD. I have a Bachelor's Degree in History from UCLA, a teaching credential from Cal State Los Angeles, and a Master's Degree in Educational Technology at Cal State Fullerton.

I have two sons, one of whom is working as an aerospace engineer, and the other is attending a doctoral program in astrophysics. Both boys attended Nixon. My husband (also an aerospace engineer) and I love travel, movies, concerts, and the Kings and the Dodgers. 

I love using technology in the classroom, and look forward to working with my students to acquire new skills and unlock hidden talents!
