Ranwala Foundation
Sahan Ranwala; The Sri Lankan Folk Artist is actively engaged in the promotion of traditional Sri Lankan culture and values, notably through his dedicated efforts in the realms of folk music and drama under the auspices of the "Ranwala Foundation". Originating from the visionary initiatives of his late father, Lional Ranwala, who was a late Sri Lankan Folk Musician conducted extensive research on Sri Lankan traditional and folk music, the foundation was established to revitalize and promote this cultural heritage throughout the country.
Following the passing of Lional Ranwala, Sahan Ranwala has played a pivotal role in strengthening the foundation, subsequently assuming the position of "Managing Director of Ranwala Foundation". In this capacity, he meticulously preserves and advances the rich legacy left by his father. Under Sahan's leadership, Ranwala Foundation has evolved into the preeminent organization for the promotion of cultural, traditional, and folk arts & folk music in Sri Lanka.
Presently, the Ranwala Foundation undertakes global outreach initiatives, disseminating the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan cultural and traditional sounds on an international scale. As a performing ensemble, the foundation comprehensively engages with various faces of the arts in Sri Lanka, encompassing folk music, folk dancing, Sri Lankan traditional dancing, traditional arts and crafts, as well as traditional drumming.
With an extensive repertoire that spans hundreds of songs, the foundation boasts multiple folk music albums under its copyright. Notably, the distinctive feature of these compositions lies in their exclusive foundation on Sri Lankan cultural, traditional, and folk music, thereby contributing to the global dissemination of the country's cultural heritage.
The Ranwala Foundation engages in global travel, presenting captivating performances that showcase the distinctive sounds of Sri Lankan cultural and traditional dancing, as well as folk music on an international platform.
