Tuesday 19th May 2020
Today we had 2 periods to get a start on our community group project. Together as a team, we decided what our project was based on. Since we all had the same theme of "Education" we went with the idea of helping children/teens with dyslexia and making sure they are getting as much help they need. We started finding people we thought related in some way with our project. This included teachers, students and parents. We made a google forms and sent them out. We sent them to many different companies and schools in the community to get a broad response. In the google form we had many questions that we knew would benefit our project. There was two sections to the google form; one for teachers and parents and another for students with dyslexia. We hope to get replies soon so we can define our focus.
Tuesday 2nd June 2020
Last week on Wednesday, Angela and Tanisha did a 30 minute interview with David Ward. David works at Kings college in the learning support. We set up a zoom call as we couldn't meet him due to covid-19. We had lots of questions we set out to ask and he answered most of them with some very interesting and relevant information. Today in class we did the rose/bud/thorn technique and this gave us some ideas to help with our project. So far we have had around 6 responses on our google form with lots and lots of information. Our goal is to finish all 6 interviews by the end of this week.
Monday 8th June
We thought we were ahead but in class today it turns out we're a little behind as we've only done 2 interviews and 6 needs to be done by next week. We need to prioritise and finish our interviews asap. We have set up a few other interviews but unfortunately some have been cancelled on us which is frustrating. But other then that we are proud of getting our first interview done and keeping our website and booklet up to date. We found getting interviews with people is quite challenging as it is tough to cooperate. Last week we set up a zoom interview at lunch but our interviewer didn't show up which is annoying but we were professional and rescheduled it. Are goal this week is to finish all interviews and get enough information so we can continue smoothly onto choosing a more defined topic.
Tuesday 16th June
We have finally completed all our interviews! We have added all our notes onto our website and we have a total of 16 google form responses with heaps of information. Ms Tomaz talked about making sure we check with our mentor first before sending things out which we didn't realise we had to do. We are now insuring we do that. One of the people we interviewed talked about how many people with dyslexia dont have all the bond connected in there brain so crawling and rolling helps stimulate that. We are leaning towards make a watch or an app that has an exercise section that helps students to remake those bonds in there brain.
Monday 22nd June
Today we did 2 period of ideation and finding solutions that may help us with our problem. We wrote 3 ideas/solutions each and described them, we ended up rotating our ideas around in our group and choosing the top 3 that fit best with solving our problem/topic. It was a really productive 2 hours and we got lots done and worked as a team. We brainstormed and let eachother share their opinion.
Tuesday 30th June
Today we shared our ideation with 7 other groups. They presented their issue and we gave them feedback on what we thought was good and things that should be added. We also shared our issue to them and got a good amount of feedback and feedforward
Monday 20th July
Today we did prototyping, we designed/crafted our ideas with the arts and crafts provided. We worked as a team and shared ideas to get our design finished. We had 2 lessons to work on this and we worked productively to get it done at a high standard. We decided to design an iPad with a rolling paper of the app, it included settings, exercise, Test, scan and reminders.
Tuesday 28th July
Today we got our stakeholders feedback, we showed our mentor our prototype and she gave us feedback and feedforward. We updated our booklet and portfolio and we signed up for the 123 tech challenge and put down our information about our project.
Monday 3rd August
Today we did created a plan to collect our feedback and our next steps for the project. We created a survey that had photos of our prototype and we asked a few questions for them to answer and give us feedback and feedforward. We also sent an email out to a few WGHS students who completed the last survey to set up a small meeting to go over our prototype.
Monday 17th August
Since we are in quarantine we have productively used our time by google meeting with each other. We discussed our next steps for this project and chatted about the feedback that we had received on our prototype. We have gotten 5 responses and they are very detailed so we are very happy with the effort outsiders put in. Unfortunately we couldn't physically work with each other but we made a google doc and listed the thing we needed to do.
Tuesday 25th August
Today we had a google meet as a whole community projects (with everyone) the teachers discussed our further steps and how to prioritise our time. By the end of this week we have to share our action plan with our mentor. We also had to stay behind to talk about our 123 tech blog. We got some feedback to add more context.
Monday 31st August
Today we are Updated the community project spreadsheet and our Kanbanchi. We also started prototyping our app on Adobe XD. We also tested our prototype with Miss Kennedy and we got positive feedback. We have been very productive as we haven't spent time together.
Tuesday 8th September
Today we had our 123 tech meeting with our industry mentor and we discussed about our project. We are also continuing to develop our app basis and asking teachers for opinions.
Monday 19th September
Georgia is finishing the app hopefully today, problem is we don't have pro so it might be showcased on laptop screen. Alison is making sure the site is up to date. Angela is working on the community booklet and evaluation. Tanisha is keeping Kanbanchi together and making sure we will finish before the deadline. We are also making one last survey to send out just for final feedback and opinions.
Tuesday 22nd September
Today is the final day for us to complete everything. We read the feedback given to us by our 123 tech mentor and took it in consideration. Georgia is finishing up the app and making final touches while Angela is updating the community project booklet and Tanisha has added the positive feedback on our mentor page. We are hoping that everything goes well
