You'll also find learning outcomes in each of the chapters in this course. These outline what you'll learn in each chapter, and you can think of these unit-level learning outcomes as baby steps toward our big-picture, course-level learning outcomes outlined above.
You can find these on the schedule to this syllabus or in the Modules within our Canvas. Note we are using the Canvas instance that belongs to your high school.
I expect you to read the assigned readings before class each day, work with interactive figures, and answer the questions in the text.
● Written Notebooks, Class Participation, Cold Calls and Discussions (25%). Class participation involves talking. All interactions will be civil, respectful, and supportive of an inclusive learning environment.
● Six Week Exams (15%). You will be tested every six weeks, and there will be a cumulative final exam. The exams will consist of multiple-choice, short-answer, and T/F questions (modeled after the weekly quizzes). Additionally, there will be an article for you to dissect.
● Homework and Classroom Team Activities (25%). There will be homework assignments. The majority of these assignments will entail your locating and interviewing entrepreneurs. All homework activities have a due date. You have up to two weeks after the due date to turn in assignments. Assignments that are turned in after the due date will have a maximum grade of 75. Two weeks after, the maximum grade will be 50. If you were in the hospital or some such thing, let's discuss.
● Quizzes (15%). The multiple-choice quizzes by chapter will be posted to Canvas and cover that week's chapters. The quizzes will be closed and due at 11:59 PM (PST) of the due date. Canvas automatically grades these quizzes, and they will help prepare you for the exams. All homework activities have a due date. You have up to two weeks after the due date to turn in assignments, but you will have a 7.5 point penalty per day.
● Final (20%). The final will be a blue book final. It is handwritten. Everything we discuss in class is up for grabs. You can use your hand-written notes. There are no devices, no printed materials. Just your blue book and pen. You will have a couple of short answer questions. In each answer, I will assess if the answer is perfect (full credit), less than perfect (75% credit), mediocre (50% credit), or unacceptable (0% credit).
● Reports and Perplexity. There will be movies to watch with written reflections. We will also use Perplexity
● Extra Credit. There will be plenty of extra credit opportunities. With good work, they could improve your results by up to one letter grade.
