Giles has been an ODP for 28 years, 8 years within the military and 20 years working at York Hospital where for the last 4 years he has been the lead ODP for critical care and resuscitation. Giles completed his MSc in Health Professions Education last year, in his dissertation he looked at whether ODPs had the theoretical and practical skills to work in the post-pandemic critical care environment.
Giles is currently seconded to NHS Elect as the Professional Lead for Operating Department Practice for the AHP Critical Care Capability Framework.
Mike took up office as President of the College of Operating Department Practitioners in January 2024, previously he served as Chair of the Education and Standards Committee. Mike has academic experience as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire and clinical experience at Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he commenced his ODP (ODA) career in 1983. Mike represents the College on several national groups including the NHS England ODP Policy and Expert Groups and the Allied Health Professions Public Health Strategy Board (UK). Mike also represented the College on the ODP Degree Apprenticeship Trailblazer group.

Adele is a registered Operating Department practitioner with an interest in research and leaderhip. Adele's career has led her to work in a number of HEIs in a variety of roles and also a senior leader in the NHS. Her experience has led to take up the role of Associate Dean for the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Bolton. Adele has had opportunities to lead change within the ODP profession, undertake research, present, and publish her research to improve patient outcomes and staff experiences.
Senior Anaesthetic ODP and Senior Organ Retrieval Practitioner, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Sean completed his ODP training at Sheffield Hallam University in 2016 and was then employed as an anaesthetic practitioner at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Sean credits 'great' mentoring and preceptorship along with being exposed to complex anaesthetics in a number of interesting specialties in aiding his promotion to a senior anaesthetic practitioner role. Within this role, Sean gained further experience in the training of staff and students. This experience helped him in securing his current dual role where he is based in a busy cardiothoracic treating both adults and paediatric patients including heart and lung transplants. His other role as part of the National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS) involves travelling around the UK and Europe retrieving organs for the centre at whoch he is based and on behalf of other translplant centres.

James has served 18 years in the Army as a medic, 13 years of which has been attached to the infantry. Over his he has been deployed multiple times as the first medical asset on ground to places such as iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and eastern Europe. James' main experience is at point of wounding and over the past 4 years he has made it possible for all medical trades to train in a field environment with the use of clinical simulation.

Amelia is a student ODP due to qualify in June 2024. When given the opportunity to undertake an elective placement in the second year, both Amelia and Alice were determined to go somewhere new and exciting to see first-hand what healthcare is like in a different environment.

Tom graduated as an ODP 2011 and began a career in the Emergency Department. His job was based in the resuscitation room to help with nursing care and to perform other, more specialist tasks. Over the space of 9 years, he progressed to the band 7 'Lead ED Practitioner' role. Tom is now an ED Advanced Clinical Practitioner and is one of less than a handful of ODP ACPs across the whole of the UK.
