STUDENT NEWS
FrightFest - This year's FrightFest is this week on Thursday, October 23. Come enjoy games, food, and an amazing haunted house. Tickets for games and the haunted house will be on sale at FrightFest.
6th Grade Dodgeball Tournament - A sixth grade dodgeball tournament will start on October 27th. Students who wish to participate, must get their team rosters to Ms. Christy by Friday, October 24th. Each team of six must consist of three girls and three boys to participate.
Halloween Costume Parade - On Friday, October 31st, there is a minimum day. We will also have a costume parade at the end of the day where students can show off their costumes and view the decorated doors of teachers' classrooms. Some candy will br provided to students to take home with them at the end of the day. Students with known allergies to consumables should be aware of the event and should be advised to make wise choices about the candy they keep. Students may wear their costumes but may not wear masks or face paint to school. Students may not bring any type of prop that resembles a weapon. We look forward to this fun event!
Attention!! Upcoming Band Concert! - Wednesday, October 29th, is the fall band concert at 3:30 PM. Join us on from 3:30-5:00 PM for our 6-8th grade Concert Bands and Jazz Band Performance! Come support your friends as they share some awesome music with you all. They have been working hard this trimester - we can't wait to see you there. Also, feel free to wear your Halloween costumes! School dress code applies.
Reminders from the Student Handbook
Merit Recovery: Students have the opportunity to earn back lost merits each trimester through completion of 1 hour of community service per 5 merits lost. Merits must be recovered in the same trimester during which they were lost. All merit recovery is voluntary and must be completed to regain privileges. Merit Recovery forms are available through the school website http://www.marinamustangs.com/ and in the school office and must be completed/returned to the office by the due dates listed on the form.

Students need one athletic packet per year for sports. Completed packets must be turned in no later than noon on the first tryout day. Packets will not be accepted after 12:00 PM on tryout days. There are no exceptions.

PARENTS
Parent Cyber Safety Night - Save the Date - We will be hosting a Cyber Safety Night for parents on the evening of November 19th, at 6:00 PM, at Marina Village. Our guest speaker will be an FBI Special Agent who focuses on cybercrime and predators. He will share with us common mistakes that parents and students make and how we can help protect our students. There is no cost to parents. Students will see the same presentation the following morning. More information will come out in the newsletter.
FrightFest Bake Sale - Spooktacular Treats Await at the PTC Bake Sale! Next Thursday, October 23, swing by the PTC Bake Sale at Fright Fest for some spooktacular sweets and devilishly good treats!
Every cupcake, cookie, and brownie you buy helps the PTC close this year’s funding gap to bring new microscopes to 7th grade science, help all our teachers with supplies, and provide much-needed shade structures for our kids at lunchtime.
Come for the fun and stay for the healthy muffins, breads and pies — and maybe not so healthy cookies, cupcakes, and brownies — and help us make a BIG impact for our MVMS students!

Marina Village Middle School offers some of the best enrichment opportunities in all of EDH! Students, come and join us for one of your favorite classes. The Art club meets on Fridays from 2:15 to 3:15 in room 32. The club will begin on September 12th and each session is limited to 15 students. There will be four sessions this year and students may sign up in the office.

Honor Society
Honor Society - Honor Society is beginning! Marina Village Honor Society focuses on character, leadership, service, and scholarship. Members will meet at school 1-2 times a month during lunch to work on projects that benefit our community. There will also be opportunities for fun! To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria:
be in 8th Grade during the 2025-26 school year
earned a 4.0 GPA during the third trimester of 7th Grade (B in advanced math is OK)
Teachers agree that you demonstrate positive character traits in class.

Oak Ridge Music Boosters wants to make sure you have heard about this exciting opportunity for students and families to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon of music, energy and community at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills.
We are proud to host the Western Band Association (WBA) Marching Band Competition right here in our home stadium for the first time! This special event will feature 14 high school bands and over 1,300 talented performers. There’s even a special exhibition performance by the Wolf Pack Marching Band from the University of Nevada, Reno! While you’re experiencing an electrifying showcase of precision, artistry and sound, you
can also:
Grab dinner and snacks at the concession stand or food trucks. Browse booths highlighting local arts programs and community music vendors. This promises to be a fun-filled day for the whole family. Don’t miss the chance to support youth music education and see some of the best marching bands in action, all in one place! We hope to see you there.

Shoe Drive - Grown out of your shoes? Let’s see how many gently used pairs we can collect between now and Thanksgiving break with a goal of 100 bags! Donated shoes will be sent to developing countries where small business owners can sell them to support their families and grow their communities. Bring shoes to your first period class, and Honor Society will take care of the rest! The class that collects the most shoes will earn an amazing prize! See the flyer below for more information!
