Hanh Nguyen, Ph.D., Professor of Applied Linguistics, TESOL, just published a co-authored article with two former HPU MA TESOL students, Ann Tai Chou and Cris Vicentini. The paper, entitled "Interactional Practices to Manage Epistemic Stances in Online Searches During a Computer-Mediated Conversation-for-Learning," appears in the special issue on Interactional Competence in The Online Space of the journal TESOL in Context, December, 2022.
Earlier, in April, 2022, the trio published another paper in the journal Classroom Discourse, Opportunities for second language learning in online search sequences during a computer-mediated tutoring session.
Both papers are based on data collected by Vincentini and another MA TESOL graduate, Andre Langevin.
In fall 2021, Chou and Vincentini presented the findings from the papers at an Applied Linguistics Talk in the TESOL Program.
