Unfortunately, most PCCs did not stand the test of time and were scrapped in the 1950s and 60s as the car took over in the US. However, as my earlier pictures show, the PCCs still survive in a few cities and museums, most notably San Francisco, where they are an integral part of commuting as well as being a tourist attraction. I've been on a PCC in San Francisco, and it was a really nice experience. It's unfortunate that so few of these trams and the railways associated with them lasted past the 1960s. Fortunately, metros as a whole are back on the rise in the US, but it will take a long time to achieve what we once had.
