this was the words from a famous origami person. "I was captivated by this artform as a child, but never got to giving it enough time and attention. I would keep buying vibrant colour papers from time to time to start folding, but the papers only gathered dust and never the necessary creases.
1st January 2021 — I decided to start — I decided to make time for this old fascination of mine — for Origami. I started #OrigamiJanuary — a personal challenge to fold and post one origami piece everyday of the month on my Instagram handle. Today is 31st January 2021, and I am delighted to tell you that I completed the challenge, thanks to the overwhelming encouragement I had in from my wonderful Instagram family.
You can check it out here under the #OrigamiJanuary story pin.
Now let me tell you about Origami.
Origami sounds childish and easy I know (but it really is not so in practice :p).
What is so interesting about it you ask? Well, to me, it is the cathartic process it takes me through, and the valuable lessons it teaches me. Here are some of them :
On many occasions in life so far, I “managed” my way through things — last-minute preparation, luck favoring me, things simply working out. Origami does not work that way. One has to deep dive. Shapes do not come about by accident. One has to stay patient and keep calm when things don’t work out.
It can be difficult initially, but once you give in to the fact that this IS going to take time, and stay at the process, you will see the magic come alive! Simple valley and mountain folds making way for hidden patterns. I learned first hand the importance of patience and saw its fruits take shape in front of me."
