About our service...
Moray Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is a team of registered psychologists who work with parents/carers, school staff and other professionals to help children and young people make the most of their education and to reduce the barriers that they may face. Our aims include enhancing social inclusion, social and emotional well-being of young people and families, and raising attainment. As a local authority in Scotland, we have a statutory duty to meet the needs of children and young people with additional support needs.
What we do
EPs carry out a range of activities, the core of which are consultations, assessments, interventions, training and research. These can be with children and families, schools or establishments, or at a local authority/national level. Each of our associated school groups has a named EP. Each school is allocated time from the service, depending on their size and needs. We visit schools on a planned and regular basis.
EPs work closely with pupils, parents and schools to support individual education and well-being and this is typically done via collaborative meetings and possibly direct involvement with the young person/family. All EPs are registered with the Health Care Professions Council and are directed by the British Psychological Society Code of Ethics and Conduct (2009).
How to contact us
In the first instance, please discuss any worries you have with your child's school. Most of the time their school will be able to manage your concerns and put appropriate supports in place. If not, the school can choose to contact us. If you are not comfortable dealing with your child’s school, you can contact our Educational Psychology Service directly.
