The Moray Council - Music Instruction & Performance

The Music Instruction & Performance team are part of Moray Council's Sport & Culture Service, sit within the Education Resources & Communities Service and are responsible for delivering instrumental music instruction, the Youth Music Initiative programme and the Moray Music Centre ensembles.

Instrumental Music Instruction

The Music Instruction & Performance team provide instrumental music instruction on a range of instruments to Moray’s children and young people. Lessons are 30 minutes long, take place in school during normal school hours and are delivered on a weekly basis by qualified and experienced professional instructors.

Moray Music Centre – “Bringing Moray’s Young Musicians Together!”

Moray Music Centre offers children and young people across Moray who play an orchestral or wind band instrument the opportunity to participate in a regional ensemble.

Youth Music Initiative

Creative Scotland administers the Scottish Government's Youth Music Initiative (YMI) Formula Fund which aims to create access to high quality music making opportunities for young people, offer young people the chance to achieve their potential in or through music making, and support the development of the youth music sector for the benefit of young people. In Moray, our Youth Music Initiative provides every P5 pupil with ukulele (or recorder in certain schools) lessons and guitar instruction for pupils at Elgin High School.
