S1
Pupils in S1 receive one period of music each week.
S2
Pupils in S2 receive one period of music each week and an additional period for 12 weeks in rotation with Art and Drama.
The additional 'Rota' period provides pupils with an introduction to Music Technology, allowing them to learn the basics of capturing, editing and manipulating sound to produce a final product, for example an audiobook excerpt or short radio broadcast.
S3
Pupils in S3 have selected to study Music as one of their S3 options. Pupils receive three periods of music each week, working to develop their Performing Skills on two instruments, or one instrument and voice, develop their skills in Understanding Music, Musical Literacy and Composing Skills.
The S3 Music course provides the foundation in preparation for Music at National 5 level in S4, S5 or S6.
