Top Movies and where to find them

By: Riley B

Hey everyone! My name is Riley and I want to give a shout out to 10 of my favorite movies. I've seen all of these and had my mind BLOWN! Some I've even seen twice! As you can probably tell, I LOVE movies so to all my fellow movie hogs who have been bored during quarantine, this one's for you! Enjoy!

#10: Onward

Onward charaters

Okay I'm so excited right now!! This movie is SO great! Onward is a 7.4 out of 10 action and adventure movie that will leave you with your jaw hanging! It has an amazing story about friendship and it's a great movie to watch when you're craving adventure. It's in last place because even though it's adventurous and fun, it's sad at some parts which some people may not like. there is also a slight romance in this movie in case you don't like that. Ian and Barley Lightfoot lost their dad when they were very little. Barley only has a few memories and Ian didn't get to meet his dad at all. But when they both get an amazing surprise on Ian's 16th birthday, it leads them to a dangerous quest to bring their dad back for one day. This movie is a great adventure movie with some humor too starring actors Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Octavia Spencer, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I watched this on Disney plus but you can also view it on Prime Video.

#9: Zapped

Zapped Charaters

I do not believe in girl or boy movies or books and I think all boys can watch this but I think a lot of girls may enjoy this more than boys. This movie is about a girl named Zoey Stevens (played by Zendaya) who lost her father and her mother married someone new. Her new stepfather has 3 sons and Zoey is not used to having so many boys around. She is so funny in this movie because she is so sensitive to all the boys so it's SO funny and I love that. She also goes to a new school where the boy problem continues. But when her phone goes through a freak accident, she finds that she has an app that can control the boys in her life! Yeah, yeah I know it's not a good role model but in the end, she learns her lesson and I think that's the most important part, especially for girls. I think this is a MUST-WATCH even though it's not the best for a family movie night. I watched this movie on Disney plus but you can also watch it on Hulu, Prime Video, and Netflix.

#8: Frozen 2

Frozen 2 is a great adventure movie just like Onward with twists and tricks and a plot you will never guess! As of right now, Frozen 2 is the highest grossing animated film of all time. It surpassed Frozen and in my opinion is a lot better than Frozen. It has a lot more action and is SUPER interesting, you won't be falling asleep! This movie goes into background of how Elsa got her powers and how their parents died. I'm sure a lot of you who are reading this have seen this movie but it's worth a rewatch right? (And maybe another one and another one and another one.....) Frozen 2 is rated 6.9/10 on imdb (and from my experience it should be rated higher) and I'm sure you'll like it even if you didn't really like Frozen. Like in FrozenI watched this movie on Disney plus but you can watch it on Prime Video too.

#7: Percy Jackson and the lightning theif

Ah Percy Jackson. It's a really popular book series and I loved it. The first book was one of the BEST of the series and here we are with a Percy Jackson movie! Okay, okay the movie is really different but who cares! At least we have one! Now I would recommend reading the books before the movies but that's my opinion because I think books are WAY better than movies! I don't get why they change such amazing content? But anyways, I like this movie because I am a HUGE adventure person and I love fast-paced, action-filled movies and if you are looking for one of those, watch this!! This is really hard to summarize because there is so much going on but I will try. Percy had ADHD and dyslexia and has a hard time with school. He soon finds out that these qualities are because he is a demigod! As he battles his way through his first year of training, he finds out more about the demigod life....and more about the prophecy that is about to come true. Again, I think you should read the books before watching the movie but you could go either way. I watched this movie on Disney plus but you can also find it on Prime Video and Netflix.

#6: Zootopia

Okay Zootopia!!! This movie is an awesome crime movie and it's also HILARIOUS!!! There's so much humor but there is one or two sad parts but other than that it's AMAZING!! And the sad parts really help to move the movie along too. There's a really good mystery in it too. There's an unexpected bad guy and there's also some really funny parts even when it's intense. Judy Hopps hopes to be the first bunny cop but everyone is shooting down her idea. So when she gets an opportunity to solve a worldwide mystery, she doesn't hesitate. But it turns out to be much more than she expected...! I watched this movie on Disney plus but you can also watch it on Prime Video.

#5: The Greatest showman

If any of you have watched this movie I recommend to watch it again. This is a beautiful movie that's got funny parts and sad parts. There are moments and there are time when you can just let go and laugh a little. This movie is also based on a true story! It is about a man named P.T. Barnum who creates a show with unique people in it. The story revolves around P.T. and his show and I think it is AMAZING! There are lots of great songs and great actors like Zendaya, (again I know but she is AWESOME) Zac Efron, and Hugh Jackman. I think this movie is GREAT and I recommend it to anyone (yes you heard me right, anyone) who is stuck on what to watch. You can watch this movie on Disney plus and Prime Video.

#4: Star wars-the rise of skywalker

Here's a fun fact: I just watched this movie about a week or two ago and my first choice for this spot was Star Wars: The Force Awakens but when I watched this, I instantly changed it to this movie. This has so much action, adventure, and even mystery in it! There is lots of suspense throughout the movie and when I watched it, I immediately wanted to be just like Rey and get a light saber for Christmas. I love this movie SO much and I recommend it to ANYONE who likes adventure. I don't think I can even explain it it has so many details!! Well I can try... There is a rumor that Emperor Palpatine has risen again and Rey and Kylo Ren are fighting to get there first. So there are many quests like finding the Sith way finder to destroying the enemy ships but...that's not all. There is one battle at the end that I'm not gonna spoil but it's my favorite one. If you like adventure, this is the movie for you. I watched this on Disney plus but you can also find it on Prime Video.

#3: The Princess Bride

I love this movie so much and I really hope you guys do too. I am actually surprised with myself that I put this is 3rd place but I also love the other 2 movies. This is an awesome movie that has all the movie night qualities you want including: action, romance, family, fantasy, and comedy. These are all the things I look for in a perfect movie though there is a lot (like a lot) of romance in it which can get to be annoying but other than that this movie is great. Buttercup is happy with Westley, whom she had fallen in love with until his ship was captured by a pirate. She is depressed after this and is pledged to get married to Prince Humperdinck who she is not in love with. But when she gets captured by three men and gets rescued by a mysterious man in black, will this encounter lead to happiness again...or will it lead to her death? I beg of you to at least watch until the part with the man in black because the beginning is kinda boring but after (and during) that part it starts getting good. I watched this on Disney plus.

#2: Live action mulan

The moment I saw Mulan fighting on that movie screen (my TV), I fell in love. She was so inspiring and she showed all of those men who judged her that she could do whatever she wanted. Instantly after watching the movie, I was running around pretending to fight like her. This movie is basically like the animated Mulan except for it doesn't have Mushu (sadness) and it has a witch. I LOVE the witch she is really cool (even though she is bad). Mulan is still the most inspiring character though. I am so glad I got to share this movie with all of you and I hope you all get the chance to watch it sometime because it is SO SO SO good!! I watched this on Disney plus but you still have to pay $30 for it (it is too close to the release date)

And now, the moment you've all been waiting (I mean reading) for.......

#1: Maleficent: Mistress of evil!!!

Okay I recommend every single person in this whole entire world... no, wait the universe should watch this movie!!! It is so awesome!!! It is the story of Maleficent but she is actually not evil. It turns out it was all a misunderstanding (watch the 1st movie to find out) but this one....this movie knocks it out of the park! It's even better than the first one and that's saying something. It is about Princess Aurora who is getting married to Prince Philip and how she might move into the castle with him. Maleficent is jealous though and when something horrible happens to the king, all eyes point on her. Is Maleficent guilty? Or is something...or maybe someone more sinister and even more unexpected behind it? Again, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie and I really hope all who are reading this (and I hope watching it) like it too.

Thanks for reading!!!
