Pretrial is a legal proceeding between the judge and one attorney from each team.
Before the main trial takes place, Pretrial Attorneys resolve preliminary issues regarding constitutional law. They argue to include/exclude evidence by citing previous decisions from state courts and the Supreme Court.
There is one prosecution attorney and one defense attorney.
First, each pretrial attorney presents their argument.
Each attorney has 4 minutes to present their argument. The judge will interrupt the attorneys to ask questions during their speech; extra time is permitted to answer them. This part requires improvisation.
Then, each side has 2 minutes to present a rebuttal.
Finally, a verdict is given: the outcome of Pretrial will directly influence an element of the main trial.
