The School Counseling Theme of the month is ACCOMPLISHMENT.
ACCOMPLISHMENT can be defined as pride and appreciation for attaining one's goals.

SUMMER SCHOOL
Have you checked grades in PowerSchool recently? If your current 'F4' grade for any course falls below 65 by the end of the academic year, you have not earned academic credit for that course. To maintain progress towards an on-time graduation and to prevent the need for additional coursework in the upcoming year, we recommend considering enrollment in Summer School for credit remediation.
As an MW student, classes are offered free of charge. However, please note that transportation to and from class is not provided.
Summer school classes will run:
Monday - Thursday
July 8 to August 15
Period 1 - 7:30 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.
Period 2 - 9:23 a.m. to 11:13 a.m.
Period 3 -11:16 a.m. to 1:06 p.m.
August Regents Exams will be administered:
August 19th and 20th
The schedule of specific courses available will be posted on the MWHS website soon. Space is limited and registration for out-of-district students begins on June 28. Prompt communication with your counselor before June 27th is advised to secure your place.
After June 27th Summer School staff can be reached at:

GOOD COURSE REQUESTS IN =
GOOD SCHEDULES OUT
As we approach the end of the school year and look forward to the new one on the horizon, we urge you to take a moment to log into your Parent/Student Portal one final time. Reviewing requested classes now is crucial to ensure this fall’s schedule is as accurate as possible. This step plays a significant role in the scheduling process and allows for any necessary adjustments to be made in time.
Please take the following steps:
Log into your ParentStudent Portal at the top of the MW Website
On the left menu bar, click on the "Class Registration" to reveal all saved course requests.
You should see required, elective and alternate courses. Having all three types of requests helps Powerschool build a full schedule with minimal study halls.
If there are required or elective courses that you believe need to be changed, please contact your School Counselor immediately to request the change. Elective changes in the summer/fall are limited due to availability.
If you have specific questions about moving into an Honors or AP class, speak directly with your teacher and follow up with your school counselor if you decide to make a change.
Your active involvement in finalizing your course requests helps counselors create a schedule that meets your needs and supports you in exploring your academic options. Fall schedule changes are limited. Thank you for reviewing your course requests before the end of the school year.
SENIOR SURVEYS
All seniors must complete their Senior Survey by June 7th. This survey (1) confirms your plans after high school (2) guarantees that Monroe-Woodbury will send YOUR FINAL, OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT to the college/university you will attend in the fall. If this survey is not completed, your final transcript will NOT be automatically sent to your school.
Log into Naviance
go to the “About Me” menu
select Surveys from Your School
click on “Senior Survey”
There are only 3 questions, but please answer each in its entirety. Make sure you only identify one school as “Attending”. After graduation, our office will send your final, official transcript for you. It's that easy!
COLLEGE ADMISSIONS EXAMS

Fairleigh Dickinson University &
Regional Center for Learning Disabilities Visit
The School Counseling Department visited FDU this past Superintendent's Conference Day to learn of camps admissions details and the specific programs that make FDU an strong competor in the college landscape. They also offer students with learning disabilities who have received accommodations as part of a 504 plan or IEP, a specialized program supporting the transition to high school as well as preparing them for the challenges ahead.
*NEW* Easy Login to Naviance

Official GPA & Rank
The final, seventh semester official GPA and rank has been calculated for our senior and is viewable in the forms section of student portals. This information provides the final decision for valedictorian, salutatorian and the top 25.
Students who attend MWHS for a minimum of four (4) semesters prior to senior year receive a rank and all other graduating students will be co-ranked. For this reason, we have a total class size and a number of ranked seniors that is different.
Congratulations to our Class of 2024! The count down is really on!
COLLEGE SPORTS & NCAA
Any college bound athlete with goals of playing a Division I or Division II sport must review NCAA guidelines for qualification. The NCAA Eligibility Center has many resources and there is a Guide for the College-Bound Student Athlete that is produced every year for reference. Athletes and families should also attend the NCAA presenation at our College Fair. There is much to learn, so do not wait until senior year to start reading! Some courses at MW do NOT qualify for NCAA credit so it is important to speak openly and often with coaches and your counselor about your plans. While faculty and staff can help share expertise, remember only NCAA can grant eligibility. Keep reading and asking questions to help keep you on the right path.
ACCES-VR APPLICATIONS
Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) services are for individuals with disabilities that interfere with getting or keeping a job or who have difficulty advancing at their job. Information and the application will be sent home to all seniors with either a 504 or IEP around the second week of October. Only eligible students need apply. An ACCES-VR representative will be in touch with all applicants to review the next steps and the services that may be provided. An email was also sent to all applicable seniors and parents on the evening of September 15, 2023.
