School Counselors are still calling in all freshmen to help them learn where we are located, how we partner with students for the duration of their high school experience and how to schedule an appointment. Freshmen.. if you are called down to your house office or if you receive an email from your counselor, please come on in! You can also click your counselor's name to access their Google Calendar and schedule your own time if you would like. If there is not a time listed during your study hall or lunch period, stop into your house office to schedule a time that works!
The sooner we can connect, the sooner we can start to put our knowledge and skills to use supporting you in your academic and future goals!

MWHS Local Scholarship
The Monroe-Woodbury Local Scholarship packet includes a list of area scholarships and the MW Local Scholarship Application. Current seniors should review the information carefully and apply for scholarships that match eligibility. Carefully follow all instructions regarding how to submit applications as incomplete applications may not be considered. Seniors submit their application materials to the respective committees by mail, email, or dropped off at your House Office; the specific method of submission is listed for each scholarship. All applications and required materials must be submitted to their respective committees no later than Friday, January 31, 2026.
All scholarship committees require three items: (1) the Local Scholarship Application, (2) a Future Plans Essay, and (3) an unofficial transcript. Some scholarships may also need additional materials like financial need information, an extra essay, a special application and/or letters of recommendation. Students must submit their Transcript/Letter Request Form to their school counselor to obtain their unofficial transcript and ensure teacher recommendation letters are forwarded.
Seniors who win an award will receive an invitation to attend the Academic Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. Attendance at the ceremony is important; if you cannot attend a family representative must be present. In summary:
Local Scholarship packet available: 12/19
Transcript/Letter Request Forms due: 2/9
Complete applications to committees: 2/27
Award Ceremony: 6/4

College Sports & NCAA
Any college bound athlete with goals of playing a Division I or Division II sport must review NCAA guidelines for qualification. The NCAA Eligibility Center has many resources and there is a Guide for the College-Bound Student Athlete that is produced every year for reference. Athletes and families should also attend the NCAA presenation at our College Fair. There is much to learn, so do not wait until senior year to start reading! Some courses at MW do NOT qualify for NCAA credit so it is important to speak openly and often with coaches and your counselor about your plans. While faculty and staff can help share expertise, remember only NCAA can grant eligibility. Keep reading and asking questions to help keep you on the right path.
Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) services are for individuals with disabilities that interfere with getting or keeping a job or who have difficulty advancing at their job. Information and the application were sent home to all seniors with either a 504 or IEP the second week of October. Only eligible students need apply. An ACCES-VR representative will be in touch with all applicants to review the next steps and the services that may be provided. An email was also sent to all applicable seniors and parents on the evening of September 15, 2024.
