The School Counseling Theme of the month is TOLERANCE.
TOLERANCE can be defined as consideration for the individual differences, views and beliefs of others.
FRESHMEN:
COME ON DOWN!
School Counselors are still calling in all freshmen to help them learn where we are located, how we partner with students for the duration of their high school experience and how to schedule an appointment. Any freshman who has not met with their school counselor should make their way to their counselor's office. If called down, please come on in! If you receive an email, click your counselor's calendar link to select a time during your study hall or lunch period to come and meet.
The sooner we can connect, the sooner we can start to put our knowledge and skills to use supporting you in your academic and future goals! Students can click their counselors' name to access their Google Calendar and schedule their own time if they like. If there is not a time listed during the students' study hall or lunch period, stop into their house office to schedule a time that works!

Mixed Emotions?
Winter and the holiday season can be a wonderful time of year filled with family and creating happy memories. It can also spark feelings of loneliness. Remember in this season of giving to give yourself the space you need and to reconnect with the positive supports you have in your life.
If you or someone you know is in need of extra support, there is help available! TEXT 4 TEENS is a confidential text line for teens and provides information, referrals or just a counselor to chat with.

College Sports & NCAA
Any college bound athlete with goals of playing a Division I or Division II sport must review NCAA guidelines for qualification. The NCAA Eligibility Center has many resources and there is a Guide for the College-Bound Student Athlete that is produced every year for reference. Athletes and families should also attend the NCAA presenation at our College Fair. There is much to learn, so do not wait until senior year to start reading! Some courses at MW do NOT qualify for NCAA credit so it is important to speak openly and often with coaches and your counselor about your plans. While faculty and staff can help share expertise, remember only NCAA can grant eligibility. Keep reading and asking questions to help keep you on the right path.
ACCES-VR Applications
Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) services are for individuals with disabilities that interfere with getting or keeping a job or who have difficulty advancing at their job. Information and the application were sent home to all seniors with either a 504 or IEP the second week of October. Only eligible students need apply. An ACCES-VR representative will be in touch with all applicants to review the next steps and the services that may be provided. An email was also sent to all applicable seniors and parents on the evening of September 15, 2023.
