A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL ROGER DAVIS
Dear North Main Families,
As we wrap up the month of January, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your continued support. We’ve had a wonderful month filled with meaningful learning and special moments, and none of it would be possible without your partnership.
A special thank you to everyone who joined us for our Multicultural Night. It was a joyful and colorful celebration of our diverse community, and it truly highlighted what makes North Main so special.
Looking ahead, February is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month! We will be celebrating both Black History Month and American Heart Month, giving our students important opportunities to learn, reflect, and grow.
We also have several fun events coming up:
Friday, February 6th: PTA Family Dance
Friday, February 13th: Wear Red for Heart Health Day
Friday, February 27th: Opening night of The Little Mermaid Jr. at Central Valley Elementary
Our students and staff have been working incredibly hard on the musical, and we can’t wait to share this magical performance with you. In addition, our Odyssey of the Mind team will be competing on February 28th, and we wish them the very best as they proudly represent North Main.
As winter continues, please be sure your child is dressed warmly for the colder weather so they can stay comfortable and enjoy their day at school.
I would also like to take a moment to highlight the importance of regular attendance. Being at school each day helps students stay connected, build strong relationships, and make the most of every learning opportunity. Thank you for continuing to support strong attendance.
We are truly grateful for the incredible families who make up our school community. Your involvement, encouragement, and partnership make a lasting difference for our students. We are so fortunate to work alongside you.
Thank you for all that you do, and here’s to another great month ahead!
Warm regards,
Roger Davis
North Main Elementary Principal
February is Heart Awareness Month

There are simple ways to keep your heart healthy this month and ALL year long! Show your heart some LOVE by focusing on these key tips:
~ Eat: healthy foods low in fat and sugar, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, fish, chicken and lean meat
~Drink: at least 8 glasses of water a day
~Sleep: School age children 9-11 hrs/day
Teenagers 8-10 hrs/day
Adults 7-9 hrs/day
~ Exercise: is needed to keep our heart healthy and strong
Children 60 minutes of physical activity/day

Some easy ways to get physically active as a family that you can all enjoy;
Turn off the tv or video games and go for a family walk, bike ride or hike
Turn up the music and have a dance off
Play tag or hide and seek
We are continuing to see the flu, norovirus, RSV and pneumonia; please continue to keep your child home with fevers, vomiting, diarrhea and associated symptoms - see link below

As the days get colder and weather is unpredictable please make sure you dress your children for cold weather and in layers for changing indoor & outdoor temperatures. Continue to encourage handwashing, coughing & sneezing into elbows, a good night’s sleep, exercise and balanced diet with plenty of water!
The New York State Department of Education requires that all 3rd & 5th grade students & New Entrants have a physical exam. A valid physical for this school year is one performed on or after September 1st, 2024 or new entrants within 1 year prior to start date.
Additionally, per NYS law, we will be screening all 5th grade female students in the spring for scoliosis if not documented on their most current physical.
