Dear Monroe-Woodbury High School Families,
The 2025–2026 school year is off to an incredible start! The energy, excitement, and commitment our students and staff have already shown in these first few days have been inspiring. Together, we are working through the logistics of our new Distraction-Free Learning initiative. We will continue to consider adjustments to ensure its impact on arrival and dismissal are minimal. Thank you to our students, teachers, and families for your cooperation, flexibility and trust with this new process.
This year, we are building on the momentum of last year’s successes by continuing to strengthen a school culture rooted in kindness, community, and respect. These values are the foundation of a positive learning environment where every student can grow, achieve, and feel a true sense of belonging.
As we move forward, I encourage students to stay engaged in their learning, take advantage of the many opportunities available, and support one another along the way. I also ask parents and guardians to stay connected by checking the Parent Portal regularly to monitor academic progress and celebrate successes at home.

To assist with traffic and getting students to class on time, parents dropping off in the mornings are encouraged to enter through Central Valley Elementary (via Route 32) and utilize the access road to the high school.
Parents will be directed to the lower student lot for drop-off.
This will help with some of the back up happening at the Main Entrance drop-off.
Thank you! 🚗💜

Mrs. Bates and the Period 6 Patio Lunch Crew are back and ready for a fantastic school year! They're not holding back in sharing their energy and excitement! ☀️
Excellence in music is a long-standing tradition in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District. Ten of our talented MWHS students have been selected for the prestigious 2025 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Conference All-State Ensembles, with an additional four students named as alternates.
Pictured below, from left:
Sunny Stein - Mixed Chorus
Cole O'Reilly - Alternate Choir
Sophia Niederberger - Treble Chorus
Kaia Glander - Treble Chorus
Gregory Grisar - Mixed Chorus
Ian Mayer - Wind Ensemble
Prasad Saha - Symphony Orchestra
Yoojin Sung - Symphony Orchestra
Max Mayer - Symphony Orchestra
Luka Joncic - Alternate Cello, Alternate Vocal Jazz
Gerard Haber Jr. - String Orchestra
Andrew Liang - Alternate Double Bass
William Calohan - Symphony Orchestra
This remarkable accomplishment places them among the very best young musicians in New York State. Each year, thousands of students from across the state compete for a spot in one of the All-State ensembles. Of these thousands of applicants, approximately 600 are chosen.
These outstanding musicians will represent Monroe-Woodbury High School at the All-State Winter Conference, held from December 4-7, 2025, in Rochester, New York. Bravo!
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, we paused to honor and remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As part of the commemoration, Dr. Crone and the MWHS Voice Ensemble performed the National Anthem over the PA for our faculty, staff, and student body.

Free Meals for all students during the 2025-2026 school year!
All students enrolled at Monroe-Woodbury Central School District are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch in school at no charge to your household each day of the 2025-2026 school year.
All students will be able to participate in these meal programs on the first day of school without having to pay a fee or submit an application. All schools provide a breakfast program for students upon entry into school and a lunch program for students in the cafeteria.
School meal programs offer breakfast and lunch meals that meet strict federal nutrition standards, aligned with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and are planned with student preferences in mind. If packing food from home, students can add to their home brought lunch at no cost by choosing at least three of the five items offered, (e.g., low fat milk, proteins, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits), one of which must be a vegetable or fruit. We invite students to show their support for their school food service program through participation.

The New York State Department of Education requires that all 9th and 11th grade students have a physical exam. A valid physical for this school year is one performed on or after September 1st, 2024.
Additionally, per NYS law, we will be screening all 11th grade students' vision and hearing if not done and documented on their physical exam and we will be screening all 9th grade male students for scoliosis if not documented on their physical.
There is also a new New York State mandate for all 12th graders to receive a booster dose of the Meningococcal A, C, W, Y vaccine. To be valid for 12th grade, the vaccine must have been received at 16 years or older.
When you are scheduling your child's 11th grade physical exam appointment, please ask the provider if your child is due for a Meningitis A vaccine..
If your student has had a physical, please ask the provider's office to either:

NEW with School Messenger:
Parents and guardians must “OPT IN” to receive text messages via School Messenger. It’s easy and quick! Please take care of it right away!
How to OPT IN to receive text messages:
Text “Y” to the number: 67587 from the phone number you have registered to your Student’s Profile as a contact.
You will receive a text message confirming you have registered to receive text notifications: “You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.”
Please note: If you DO NOT “OPT IN” for text notifications, you will NOT receive text notifications. You will only receive phone calls or emails. We encourage you to make your selection as soon as possible to ensure smooth communication with no interruptions.
PROTOCOLS FOR VISITORS TO SCHOOLS
Schools are places of work and learning, and certain limits must be set for any visitation. Any visitations require approval from the principal or his/her designee.
The building principal or his/her designee is responsible for all persons in the building and on the grounds. For these reasons, the following rules apply to visitors to the schools:
Anyone who is not a regular staff member or student of the school will be considered a visitor. This includes any contractor or government official conducting professional or official business.
The Monroe-Woodbury School District uses a visitor management practice known as The Credential Exchange Program. The practice requires all visitors to enter the school at the main entrance where they will press the intercom button. Using the visitor intercom system, a Safety Officer or Meeter Greeter will engage each visitor from inside the school and ask the individual to state their purpose for visiting. When a legitimate purpose has been stated, the Safety Officer or Meeter Greeter will electronically grant access to the visitor and they will enter the inside of the school or vestibule. Upon approaching the Security Desk or vestibule, all visitors will follow the Credential Exchange Program.
The Credential Exchange Program requires all visitors to produce a valid Government Photograph ID, which will be vetted by the Safety Officer or Meeter Greeter through the VISITOR DATABASE. Once authorization is permitted, the Safety Officer or Meeter Greeter will take the printed-out visitor’s tag and insert it into the ID holder attached to a break away Orange Visitor Lanyard. The visitor will hang the Orange Lanyard around their neck and the Safety Officer or Meeter Greeter will maintain the visitor’s ID in the security booth or vestibule’s lock box. All visitors to the school must report to the main office upon entering the school.
Student visitors are not permitted during the school day or to functions not open to the public without advance approval from the principal.
Any unauthorized person on school property will be reported to the principal or his/her designee. Unauthorized persons will be asked to leave. The police may be called if the situation warrants. All visitors are expected to abide by the rules for public conduct on school property contained in our Code of Conduct.
Refer to individual school handbooks for additional information and requirements.
