Location 

The original Great Plains homelands were in what is now Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. 

They traveled freely and they also had a significant presence in the modern states of Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, Northern Illinois, and South-central Canada. 

Today, most Great Plains people live in the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Nebraska.
