Technology & Data Privacy

Technology is a critical part of the 21st century classroom and with the adoption of the MVSD's 1-to-1 Learning Initiative, we believe there is great potential for the use of digital tools to improve teaching and learning. Technology will never replace effective classroom instruction; effectively used, it is a powerful creativity, connectivity, problem-solving, and productivity resource. The ever increasing availability of online teaching and learning resources comes with inherent risks and concerns regarding student data, privacy, and student work. We as a District have a responsibility to ensure that student's data and privacy is adequately protected while using any online digital resource for school work. The Merrimack Valley School District is providing the information/resources for parents, families, and staff so that they can better understand what student data is, how student data is collected and used, and the laws and practices that the District adheres to in order to protect student data and privacy.

MVSD Data Sharing:

In accordance with policy JRA the Merrimack Valley School District (MVSD) places a strong emphasis on safeguarding data privacy and security in the collection and management of student information. MVSD utilizes a comprehensive district-wide Student Information System (SIS) along with other platforms, examples of which include: ALMA, College Board, Educators Handbook, NWEA, Scoir, SWIS, and Quick Base. These systems facilitate the collection and examination of diverse student data to support our students' educational experience.
