MVSD Assistive Technology

Welcome to the Mount Vernon School District Assistive Technology website. This site contains resources for all MVSD special and general education professionals to utilize in the implementation of assistive technology and universal design for learning. Assistive Technology is defined as any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. AT must be considered on the IEP. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a school district is responsible for providing assistive technology devices that are part of a child's special education, related services or supplementary aids and services.

The MVSD Assistive Technology Department provides consultation, equipment trials, and guidance in selecting appropriate assistive technology tools to support student learning and success.
