New Student Enrollment for Mount Vernon High School
First Time Registering? If this is your first time registering for student enrollment, you may register online via Skyward or you may pick up a packet in the MVHS School Counseling Office. Summer Hours: Please pick up information at the District Office
Returning Parent/Guardian? If you have registered a student in the past, please use that same Skyward account.
Please provide the following documents. You may upload these documents online via Skyward or you may bring them to the MVHS School Counseling Office. (Summer Hours: Please bring information to the District Office.) Included in these documents is a Family Income Survey. This survey replaced the Free/Reduced Lunch Application. Completion of this survey may qualify students to cover varies fees during high school.
Birth Certificate, Passport, or State Issued ID to establish legal age (can also verify guardianship)
Signed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS)
Proof of Residency (Utility Bill) However, if you are currently without a regular place to live (if you are experiencing homelessness), the school cannot require documents before enrolling your child. If this might apply to you or a child you are caring for, ask at the school or district office to talk with the school district’s McKinney-Vento Liaison.
School transcripts and records will be requested directly from your prior school. If you have a copy of your completed classes or classes in progress, please bring this information to your New Student Appointment.
Additional Information to Complete prior to your "New Student Appointment"
Review the Course Catalog and Course Planner Form for your grade. During our meeting, we will schedule you into required core courses and use the Course Planner Form to complete your schedule.
MVHS is on an 8 period block schedule. Periods 1-4 are on Green Days and Periods 5-8 are on White Advisory. Students will also have an advisory (Homeroom).
Your teachers at MVHS use Google Classroom to communicate assignments, due dates, and much more. If you are not familiar with Google Classroom, please visit this link.

If you need a parking pass, visit the ASB Office in the Gym.
Once you have completed all of these steps, you will be contacted by the counseling office to make an appointment with your counselor to register for classes. For new students registering over the summer, you will be contacted the week of August 23rd.
During your "New Student Appointment":
You will review our New Student Presentation and/or New Student Video.
You will receive instruction on how to check out your Chromebook, login to your Chromebook, login to your school email, and login to Skyward.
Your counselor will review your academic records and build your schedule.
You will be issued an ASB Card
Student Withdrawal from Mount Vernon High School
Parent/Guardian notify counseling office via phone or in person that they would like to withdraw their student. The information needed is as follows:

Withdrawal date: The withdrawal date may determine if a student receives "In Progress Grades" or final grades. Transcript/In Progress Grades will be submitted to the student's new school. (Please see below for release of transcript).
In order to release the student transcript, they must complete the following check out process:
Return all library books, Chromebook and other materials.
Pay outstanding fees and fines. (ASB Office)

Counselors are present to help students needing assistance with personal matters as well as to guide students through high school plans and goal setting beyond high school.

To report an absence or tardy please submit written confirmation of the absence to the attendance office within 48 hours of your student returning to school.
