Letter of Recommendation: Prior to requesting the letter, students should provide teachers/counselor with this Letter of Recommendation Information Form. Letter of recommendation information will be available in early September.
Applying to Skagit Valley College: If you plan to attend SVC after high school, but you have already applied to SVC while in high school (College in the High School or Running Start) - follow these direction. / If you plan to attend SVC, but have never applied, follow these directions.
Fee Waivers: Common App Fee Waiver section of your Profile to request a fee waiver. If you select that you are eligible for the Common App fee waiver, you will not be charged any application fees when you submit through Common App. Visit Common App to learn more. Direct to Institution Fee Waiver: The College and Career Center can process the NACAC College Fee Waiver for students who qualify. Please email pzimmer@mvsd320.org to request a NACAC College Fee Waiver.

Senior Year Timeline
Senior year is often an extremely busy time, with schoolwork, activities, and special events. Be sure to take time to think about your plan for after high school. Stay on track with the college admissions process. Get organized and be aware of deadlines.
Finalize your plan. Still not sure, talk with your family, teachers, counselor or make an appointment with Ms. Zimmer to discuss your options.
Go to college fairs, attend college nights and also attend college rep visits at MVHS. Check out our Field Trips.

Stay on track with your grades and extracurricular activities.
Keep track of application deadlines, as well as scholarship and financial aid deadlines. .Deadlines for WA State
Understand admissions requirements. Two Year Colleges and Four Year Colleges often have different requirements. Make sure they know which colleges you want transcripts, score reports, and letters sent to. See college requirements for more info.
Complete applications & verify your applications are complete by reviewing your "Admission Status" portal.

Send Mid Year Grade Reports if necessary.
If you applied under the regular application process, you should receive an admissions decision by March or April. Notifications of financial aid awards should arrive by the end of April.
Make your final college decision. Notify a four year college of your intent by May 1. Two Year and Technical Colleges are open enrollment and therefore your decision to attend is attached to enrollment timelines.
Once you accept an offer, you should receive information from the college. Make sure to review all Financial Aid Information as well. Colleges will have checklists to help you with enrollment. Complete all required documents.
College Bound Scholarship
Did you take the College Bound Pledge?
1. In 7th or 8th grade, students completed an application for the College Bound Scholarship. They pledged to: Graduate from a Washington State high school with a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher. Have no felony convictions. Apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid).
2. In order to receive the scholarship, students must fulfill this pledge and: Be income eligible, as determined by their college with the information from their FAFSA or WASFA. Be accepted to an eligible college and begin attending within one year of high school graduation. Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, or have DACA status.
