Urban League Scholarship Fair - Field Trip
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A total of 113 juniors and seniors from Merrillville High School paid a visit to the annual Urban League Scholarship Fair hosted on campus at Indiana University Northwest earlier this year.
When student arrived on campus, the team at Urban League of Northwest Indiana provided students with a presentation on financial aid and how to make college affordable.
Although our time at the fair was short, due to it being an early release day at school, students who attended were given the opportunity to meet with college admissions representatives and pick up informational materials from the schools and local businesses.
Over $120,000 in scholarships were offered to our students who attended. At least 5 students received offers for full-tuition scholarships and many of our students received letters of acceptance to various colleges and universities.
Merrillville High School hopes to take more juniors and seniors next school year to the annual scholarship fair.
