The Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) scholarship program is designed to provide recognition for outstanding members of the National Junior Hereford Association. B. Host an American Red Cross blood drive in the United States scheduled between May 26 – and the September deadline.
The student may not adopt an existing blood drive. However, a student may adopt an existing Leaders Save Lives blood drive transitioned from the former Blood Program Leader.
Donor centers are not eligible as blood drive sites unless held outside of normal operating hours.
Regularly scheduled mobile operations are not eligible as blood drive sites.
A school may be used as a blood drive site as long as school is out of session.
The blood drive may have no more than one Blood Program Leader. Program rewards will not be split among multiple Blood Program Leaders. Student Blood Program Leader must be listed as primary contact in Red Cross system of record.
Program may not be combined with the American Red Cross Sickle Cell Fighter High School Scholarship Program, High School Scholarship Program or Community Club Program.
Pints collected from affiliated Leaders Save Lives blood drives will not count toward any other Red Cross scholarship program, including Sickle Cell Fighter High School Scholarship Program and High School Scholarship Program.
C. The blood drive must collect a minimum of 25 productive pints of blood.
Results will be calculated from one blood drive operation.
Multiple operations may not be combined.
D. Each Leaders Save Lives Blood Drive must be internally distinguished as a Leaders Save Lives blood drive by the Red Cross-representative at the drive level in the system of record.

To take part in the Breakthrough Junior Challenge, create a short video (2:00 – two minutes max) to explain a big idea in one of these fields:

Life Sciences
Your film can take any form you like: animation, talking head, documentary, dramatic reconstruction, whatever. It’s worth keeping in mind that video is a dynamic visual medium – using diagrams, simulations, physical demonstrations etc. is a lot more effective than standing in front of a blackboard talking.
