nori clothing

an original line of clothing designed and produced by Mary Morano

My idea is to create my own line of clothing. This is something that I've been interested in for a long time, but never have gotten around to do. The Senior Project provides me with that time and those recourses to attempt at this project. My mentor would be Trish Ginter who owns a store in Vineyard Haven named Frock. My goal is to make as many pieces as I can. Putting a definite label on my idea would cause stress and pressure, so I'm not going to. I would like to make a long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, a dress, loose pants and shorts. I will be going to Frock to learn from Trish and start sewing my garments! I hope to take out of this a new appreciation for clothing and maybe even start making the items in bulk (key word: maybe). I have sketches of the ideas I have for the clothes, but I imagine they will be loose fitting and possibly one size fits all. Hopefully the clothing line gets to a point where I have enough time to photograph it on one of my friends and create a look-book to share with everyone when I present the project to the public. I know the basics of sewing so hopefully it will be an uphill process. As for materials, I'm going to order the advised fabrics after I discuss them with Trish.
