A little about the counselor
My name is Amy Flexsenhar and this is my 12th year as a school counselor, and my fifth year in the Meramec Valley R-III School District. I am excited to see all the students and families at Zitzman Elementary and meet the new ones!
In case you are wondering, what does a guidance counselor do? Here are a few examples:
A school counselor …
- Teaches social-emotional lessons in the classroom and in large group settings.
- Counsels one on one with children.
- Counsels students in small group settings.
- Communicates with teachers and parents.
- Appropriately maintains confidentiality.
- Provides resource information for families.
- Encourages Character Education.
- Assists with the learning of study skills and organization.
