The Dance Spectrum Board is the dance department’s elected student cabinet. All Dance Spectrum Board members serve as leaders and role models in the Dance Department and the Performing Arts Department at Mountain View High School. The purpose of the Dance Spectrum Board is to build a supportive and respectful community of dancers, where all students feel comfortable, regardless of background, race, culture, or gender identity. This elected group works to create an engaging environment where students are enthusiastic to dance, learn, explore their creativity, and find their love for dance.

Maintain an appropriate social media presence: Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Arrive on time and prepared for classes, rehearsals, and responsibilities.
Be available to assist with Dance Spectrum events, tours, and other responsibilities that arise during the year.

Model the way! All board members are role models who must uphold and demonstrate the values of Dance Spectrum.
President(s):
The Dance Spectrum President(s) oversee all of the activities of Dance Spectrum, in cooperation with the Dance Director, and ensure that those on the Dance Spectrum Board are completing all individual tasks. The President is responsible for calling board meetings and making sure that all Board members are continually working together to lead and support all Dance Spectrum members (individual check-ins, social events, class visits, fundraisers, etc.). The President must keep regular contact with the Dance Director as to what needs to be accomplished. The President serves as a representative of the Dance Spectrum Board at community meetings where the Board must be represented including Council of Presidents meetings. The President must be available to assist other Board members and students whenever help is needed. In the event that 2 co-presidents are elected, the presidential team will share the following roles: Student Choreography Assistant (Hosts peer choreography workshops during the school day to support student choreographers throughout the choreographic process - During tutorial, lunch, etc.), Event Leader (Will always present at events, being a leader in social bondings and bringing people together), Treasury lead (Will overlook co-treasurers, keep them on track instead of Ms. Kato having to remind them), and Event Coordinator (Will coordinate emails, planning socials, leading the planning process to create social events and bonding activities). A single president will carry out these team roles with the Vice President.
Vice-President:
The Dance Spectrum Vice-President takes over the responsibilities of the President when that person is absent or leaves office. The Vice President is responsible for the publicity and advertising of all Dance Spectrum shows, activities,class happenings, etc. and making sure to inform the Oracle and ASB about all upcoming events. Posters, flyers, and social media advertising shall be the responsibility of this office. The Vice President must be available to assist other Board members and students whenever help is needed. In years with 1 president, the Vice President will assist the President in carrying out the “presidential team” roles.
Event Coordinator:
The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events that foster community and support program initiatives. This includes managing communication for fundraising efforts, such as sending emails to potential donors and reaching out to companies for sponsorships or partnerships. Additionally, the Event Coordinator leads the planning and coordination of bonding events, including movie nights, potlucks, kickoff gatherings, and other group activities, ensuring they run smoothly and achieve their intended goals with continuous check-ins.
Resource Manager:
The Resources Manager is responsible for organizing and maintaining all essential supplies and materials to support the program’s activities and events. This includes managing costumes by tracking sizes, types, and storage locations, as well as preparing and overseeing materials needed for events, such as props, decorations, and equipment. They handle merchandise coordination, keeping inventory, pricing, and distribution up to date, while also ensuring classrooms are stocked with necessary items like hair ties, deodorant, and other personal-use supplies for dancers.
Failure to meet any of these expectations and positional duties could result in immediate termination from the Dance Spectrum Board.
