MVLA has established partnerships with several local community language schools to support students in continuing their language studies. Students may be eligible to apply for coursework completed through a community language school to be included on their transcript under the following guidelines:
Coursework will be completed while the student is currently enrolled in MVLA;
The course is not offered at the home school;
A maximum of 10 world language credits will be applied toward graduation requirements;
No more than 40 outside credits will be included on a MVLA transcript over four years;
The coursework was approved by the high school administrator prior to the student enrolling in the course; and
The community language school submits to the high school or district office an official transcript at the end of the term.
Please note: Not all language program courses are a-g approved. Students need to be aware of the program qualifications before they enroll in a course.
Languages programs must go through a process at the district level to be pre-approved. The attached document lists the language programs that have been pre-approved by MVLA.
To obtain pre-approval:
Students need to complete the MVLA OUT-OF-DISTRICT COURSE PERMISSION FORM and submit it to their respective counselor or site administrator.
