Week 4
Nov 29 - Dec 3
Nov 29 - Dec 3
This week we decided on what physical product we will design and made progress on creating an app. This included setup (downloading git, creating repository, etc).
The module we decided on making two modules: the pet caller, which uses both sound and scent, and the mister, which sprays mist at the user. To be clear, we have not worked on the module itself just yet. We had to find a way to connect the module to the device wirelessly, which is what we focused on this week. We used the website we researched last week as our guide. We then purchased a raspberry pi to use as the heart of the module, since it has the ability to communicate wirelessly using Bluetooth (see below). We also soldered the header onto the Raspberry pi.
We then worked on the app in android studio as the guide recommends. We set up a common git hub repository for all of our files, and we also added some of the programs listed in the guide (see below).

In light of what makes our system/business model unique, we also got started on a preliminary version of a shop for our site, which can be found at this link. The shop currently lists the variety of modules that will be in use. One idea we had if we were to actually make this into a business would be to make a subscription service which allows the users to swap out and try different modules each month before possibly settling on some.
