4th Grade

The 4th grade project offers students an opportunity to think outside the box. Students worked in teams to research simple machines and create a Google Slides presentation with their research. See the school page for these presentations.

Research included:

  • An introduction to simple machines

  • Details regarding each of the six types of simple machines

  • Explanation of how that machine works

  • Examples the each simple machine

  • Pictures

The second part of the project was centered around Rube Goldberg. Each student created an illustration of an imaginative Rube Goldberg machine to do a simple task. Then students worked together to create a Rube Goldberg Robber Trap. Teams were all required to follow certain parameters and utilized the Engineering Design Process to create their machine. We hope you enjoy browsing through these pages and watching videos of their work.
