I teach HUM 201/ENG 111 (English 10) to sophomores on Monday and Thursday and HUM 216/ENG 112/Research 2 (English 11) to juniors Tuesday and Friday. All of my classes are located at the MVGS Warrenton campus. On Wednesdays, I support FLEX day activities.
My Google Classrooms are the hub of all instruction and communication. I will invite each student to the appropriate virtual classroom. If any student needs additional support or clarification, my virtual office hours are listed above.
Please don't struggle alone. Email me, and we will set up a face-to-face discussion via Google Meets or in person.
Teaching humanities, writing, and research at MVGS is the culmination of a life-long journey for me.
I sincerely believe that an education in the humanities is crucial to developing critical thinking across all disciplines. Teaching humanities in a science and technology community of learners is a perfect match for my philosophy of education.
I have the privilege of meeting a spectacular new group of students every year who will participate in my community of learners for two years. During that time we will explore both Western and non-Western philosophy and culture, but most importantly each student will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of self within an expanding world view.
My single most important goal as an educator is to expand each individual's unique ability to think independently and communicate effectively. I always tell my students that my role is to teach them "how to think" but never "what to think". Every opinion, philosophy, faith--everything that makes us truly human is safe in my classroom.
