My name is Miss Sarah Melsha, I am the counselor at Mount Vernon Middle School. I’m so glad you’re here. This page is a place for families, students, and staff to learn more about the school counseling program and the support available to our middle schoolers.
As a school counselor, my role is to walk alongside students as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally during these important years. I work with students in classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one to help them build skills for success both in and out of school.
Counseling can look different depending on a student’s needs. Sometimes it means learning coping strategies, practicing problem-solving, or working through friendship challenges. Other times it’s about setting goals, building confidence, or finding ways to stay motivated in class.
I also collaborate closely with parents and teachers to make sure every student has the tools and support they need to thrive. Most of all, my goal is to be a trusted resource - someone students can turn to for encouragement, guidance, and a safe space to talk.
