BEAST WEEK

by Tyler Neafus

Broncos Empowering A Society Together or BEAST Week has started this week. Last week was for Broncos to give financial support to families or organizations in need of it.

The organization that BEAST week will be raising funds for is Dani Killman and the Cavett Kids. The Cavett Kids organization is a camp in which kids who have illnesses can go to.

Beast week raised funds for Cavett Kids by doing the following events: Penny Wars, Black Light Dance, The Not-So Talent Show, and The King and Queen of Hearts assembly.

In Penny Wars all of the classes put in pennies in their jars to add points to their class and dollars and silver coins in other jars to deduct points from the other classes.

The Not-So Talent Show is a comedy show where students parody having talents. Events such as different lip syncs, dances, slam poetry and watermelon bashing were parts of the show.

The event to finish off BEAST week is the King and Queen of Hearts Assembly. Only the two classes who have the top two scores in Penny Wars can attend the assembly.

The assembly highlights couples in Mustang and presents many opportunities for students to donate to the Cavett Kids. The assembly also has other events such as the winner of the Battle of Bands and Teacher Talent Show will perform, along with the winner of the Not-So Talent Show.

Prom Theme Inspires Wardrobe Choices

by Raven Gray

MHS prom will be on Saturday, April 21. The theme for this year’s prom will be centered on the Addams family and their gothic aesthetic. While some are overjoyed with the choice, for some, the goth style just doesn’t vibe with them. It is not a requirement to be dressed in tune with the theme of prom, but if one does wish to somewhat go along with the theme without going full gothic, there are some accessories that would tie in perfectly.

Gloves are always a good way to go when wanting to amp up any formal outfit. However, long black lace gloves could be the perfect item to fit in with the Addams family. If black lace doesn’t go with the dress, a pair of white silk could also be a way to go.

If gloves aren’t your thing, then the perfect necklace would take even the most traditional of looks and turn it into an edgy look. The Addams family is known for their odd sense of taste and style, so anything could be a part of the look from crystal charms to fake bird skulls as jewelry.

There are also bracelets or gothic shoes that could be worn as well as a classic smokey eye to feel at home in the dark surroundings of the 2018 prom.
