Introduction

Oculus Quest 2 and Oculus Quest Differences

    • Poorly designed head strap - Oculus Quest Hardware Recommendations

      • Once you replace the head strap - it no longer fits into the box => purchase a case

    • Must have a Facebook account (you can update your current account to use Facebook to log in) - recommend creating a FB account using a generic email address (not what FB supports)

    • Canā€™t run Oculus Go apps

    • The interpupillary adjustment is done differently - only 3 settings

    • Controller battery case is not as easy to remove

Safety

Cleaning

    • Clean lenses with a cloth made for lenses - do no use a kleenex or any Windex!

    • Clean the controllers and head straps with a disinfectant cleaning wipe

    • Consider the Cleanbox CX box (expensive) - uses UVC light

Oculus Account

  • Facebook Account - association with a generic email

  • Oculus Account - log in using the Facebook account

  • Install Oculus app on mobile device

Navigation

    • Buttons, how best to put on/take off

    • Powering down the Oculus Quest, batteries

    • Home screen tour

    • Pass-Through - double-tap (turn on in Settings => Guardian)

Casting

Options to share the Oculus screen to your computer or projector include...

  1. Cast to a Google Chromecast (some districts may block Chromecasts)

  2. Cast to Oculus app on a mobile device (iPad tablets work well) That device's screen can then be shared with a projector (wired, via a document camera, or Apple TV)

  3. Cast to https://oculus.com/cast website (image will be smaller and not fill the screen)

  4. Microsoft Air Receiver - wirelessly cast to PC $6 - Windows app (directions video) Windows may need to be updated ~ need MS account to purchase (Windows only)

  5. AirServer (Mac/PC) Free 30 day trial, $11.99 for education

  6. Install SideQuest app and scrcpy (Windows only) ==> open SideQuest and select casting, scrpy will allow casting into a new window

  7. Vysor (freemium) - provides a binocular view
