Create Tours in VR
Overview
Create virtual tours for the Oculus Quest. Start with photos captured from your cell phone, a 360° camera, or captured from Google Maps Street Views. Create your tour with linked scenes, 360° backgrounds, still images and text. Leave with the skills to help students create virtual tours using the Oculus Quest.
Plan Your Story
Who is your audience and what are you trying to say? What do you want them to get out of viewing your story?
Scenes - how many, what scenes are needed? Does the story work best using a linear or a branching format? How will the links work - menu or “hot spot”
Assemble the resources in a shared Google Drive folder
360 background photo - find online, capture with a camera or phone, download from Google Street View
Upload 360 photos to Google Photos to preview in 360 VR
Regular photos to be placed in the scene - may be a close up of objects in the scene you want to highlight. Think about where in the scene the photos should be placed.
Select an image to serve as the thumbnail for the tour
Write the text for the scene and photos in the scene. Great to use Google Docs, 2 - 3 sentences maximum
