EVOLUTION, taxonomy and population genomics of neotropical fishes

I am currently a PhD candidate at the Goeldi Museum, dedicated to unravelling the evolutionary forces that have shaped the diverse fish communities of the Neotropics. My research employs an integrative approach, combining traditional taxonomy with cutting-edge molecular techniques to describe new species, revise taxonomic classifications, and investigate population structure.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Pará (2017), where I gained experience in DNA barcoding of butterflies and fishes under the guidance of Dr. Jonathan Ready.

Following my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Master's in Zoology at the Federal University of Pará (2018-2020), focusing on freshwater stingrays' phylogenetic relationships and biogeography.

In my PhD at the Emílio Goeldi Museum, I am keenly interested in suckermouth catfishes' taxonomy, phylogenomics, and population genomics. In addition to my research, I actively contribute to the curation of Goeldi's Ichthyological Collection.

Besides academia, I love going to the movies, theatres, art museums and listening to music.
