Class Overview
The Milpitas Unified School District has formally adopted FOSS (Full Option Science System) which was developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science to support instruction and learning of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Science is a hands-on, interdisciplinary subject which requires students to actively engage with the material they are learning. Due to the hands-on, exploratory nature of science along with the in-depth collaboration and class discussions it is critical students are in class daily.

My Teaching Philosophy
First, I firmly believe that parents are their child's first and most important teacher. You know and understand your child better than anyone else and I value the important role you play in your child's school success. Thank you for the honor and opportunity to work with you and your child. Communication and collaboration are key components for student success. I encourage open dialogue between students, parents, and myself. Together, we can build a strong educational partnership and foster a true sense of community.
My focus as an educator is to maximize both academic success and positive character virtues in each student. To learn to work well with others, students will often work together in teams, have class discussions, and collaboratively solve problems. Communication will be an essential aspect of each of our science activities.
Each student is unique, and has a special gift or intelligence that they are bringing to our classroom. My goal is for every student to be successful, to express and develop their unique talents and strengths.
About me
Hello Parents, Guardians, and Students!
I am delighted to introduce myself; my name is Dr. Keller. I look forward to working with Milpitas's remarkable students, families, and community members. Throughout the last twenty years, I've taught science, reading, and a little math in grades four through twelve. I am passionate about working with middle school students to discover their strengths and interests while cultivating them to succeed. My mission is to empower each student to reach their full potential, both academically and personally. As an educator, I am committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel valued, respected, and inspired to thrive.
When I'm not in the classroom, I am almost always with my dog Neptune and my husband. We enjoy being outdoors (hiking, running, taking photos, etc.). I also love to read and travel. I'm excited about this school year and the opportunity to work with each of you.
