What Do You Want to Learn Today?

Welcome to Murray City School District's Professional Learning Center! Below you will find a host of resources designed to increase your knowledge, skills, and abilities as an educator. From the philosophy and theories behind 21st Century learning to specific tools to use in the classroom, this site can meet your professional learning needs.

As a district, our goal is to leverage technology to allow for professional learning in a time and space that works for you. These digital opportunities will be paired with blended and in-person sessions as well as coaching opportunities to help you grow your own learning in a way that makes sense to you.

Many of the professional development modules are housed in the Level I or Level II Technology Certification courses. While there is no expectation for educators to complete these certifications, some of the professional learning opportunities might overlap and count towards credit for these certifications. Educators wishing to work towards their Level I or Level II Technology Certifications will have until April 30, 2022, to complete the required coursework.

How Do I Get Started?

As you embark on your individual professional development journey, consider the answers to several questions before you begin:

  • What am I most interested in learning?

  • What kind of credit am I looking to earn? Possible answers could include PD credit for the district for this year, lane change credit, or USBE credit towards relicensure or an endorsement. Below are a few helpful definitions for these credit options:

          • USBE Credit - counts for lane change and relicensure credit, counts towards some state endorsements

          • Relicensure Credit - recognized by the district and state as qualifying for renewing your professional teaching license

          • For all other credit questions, please contact Denise McDougal at (801) 264-7400

  • What kinds of learning opportunities will best translate to my classroom and practice?

Once you have answered the questions above, take a few minutes to review the learning options below. For fast access to the learning opportunities, click the link button immediately below. Further down, each bar will give a brief description of what might be included with this training tool and the kinds of credit available. By clicking on the icon on this bar, you will be taken to a separate page with even more information about the trainings available with these resources.

After completing each training opportunity, return to this homepage and complete the Google Form in the Professional Learning Log tab or located on each training page. Be sure to fill out this form after each learning opportunity. This will allow both you and the MCSD Teaching and Learning Department to track the professional development you have completed.

UEN Courses

Utah Educational Network provides resources for educators across the state. One significant part of their training is a catalogue of professional development opportunities that relate to online learning and technology in the classroom. Courses are all online, blended, or in-person. Many of these courses can be earned and used for the Educational Technology Endorsement.

Technology Integration

There are many models of what it looks like to successfully blend technology into the classroom. The Technology Integration category provides training on several of these models. While MCSD prefers the Triple E Framework, the other models also provide a solid foundation for instructional change by incorporating technology. Both the SAMR and TPACK model trainings are taken from the Level I and Level II Tech Certification courses.

The Standards and Content Training page contains resources focused on helping teachers better understand content and new standards. Including SEEd Science Standards, Utah Computer Science Standards, English Language Learner, Eureka Math, and English Language Arts Essential Standards, these trainings range from short videos to more complex Canvas courses for USBE credit.
