What would you do to improve the world?
There have been many social injustices throughout time. Against women, coloured people, homosexuals,... Luckily for us, there have also been people who have fought against these injustices standing up for everybody's rights no matter their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. Martin Luther King fought for Afroamerican rights in the USA; Emmeline Pankhurst fought for the right for women to vote; Malala fought for the right for young girls to have an education. However, cases of violence against certain groups are worryingly on the rise. Black people being killed by police officers in the USA; women being denied their basic rights in countries like Iran or Afghanistan; people being killed or seriously injured by radicals because of their sexual orientation and so on and so forth.
Do you think Martin Luther King would be one of the leaders of the American social movement "Black Lives Matter" if he was alive today?
Do you think Emmeline Pankhurst would speak up for women's rights in Iran?
How do you think Malala feels when she sees what is happening with the talibans in Afghanistan?
In this project, we are going to try and answer these questions and think about what actions each of us can take to make the world a better and safer place for everybody. You will do so by carrying out a series of tasks, some individually and others in groups.
Working on this project, you will be developing most of the skills needed for acquiring meaningful learning such as the linguistic, digital, learning to learn, social or cultural competences, among others.
Furthermore, you will be practising the contents needed for 4º ESO:
