From the 9th to the 14th of October, 2022
Twenty-five pupils from 4º ESO visited Newcastle to participate in the project Erasmus+ "Heroes: Helping the Earth restore order through environmental sustainability". This was the first encounter with our partners from RSG- Enkhuizen (The Netherlands) and Excelsior Academy (United Kingdom).
Students started to work on the ODS: No poverty, Zero Hunger, Clean water and Sanitation. To achieve it, they were invited to solve problems in a fictional African village. Pupils had little money to buy vital things to survive in the village and let their citizens meet their basic needs.
During the science class, students learned about the use of renewable energy and designed some infrastructure for an island. Also, they visited Catapult in Blyth to learn about the use of wind turbines and Gragside to understand how hydroelectric power works.
We arrived in Newcastle upon Tyne which is England's northernmost metropolitan borough, located on the River Tyne's northern bank opposite Gateshead to the south. It is the most populous settlement in the Tyneside conurbation and North East England.
