Compare & Contrast: Audacity and Twisted Wave (Web Version) were both created with the same goal in mind, to provide users with a tool to edit audio files. These applications have some similarities between their design and production. However, they also have various differences. First we will discuss how the two programs compare, then we will look at how they differ from one another.
Similarities:
Both programs allow you to record your own audio.
Both programs allow you to import audio.
Both include the Fade In/Fade Out effect, Amplify, Normalize, Silence, and Change Pitch/Speed.
Differences:
Audacity allows users to import and edit stereo tracks, Twisted Wave does not allow this without buying a subscription. It automatically converts the track to a mono track if it is a stereo track.
Audacity includes more complex editing tools, such as Distortion, Compressor, Reverb, etc.
There is no limit on the length of audio a user can edit in Audacity. In Twisted Wave, user's can only edit up to 5 minutes of audio while using the free, web-based version.
Twisted Wave also has a mobile app; Audacity does not.
Twisted Wave does not allow you to have more than one track in a single file. Audacity does not have a limit on how many tracks you can have.
