To develop a comprehensive response to youth gang violence based on data gathered as part of the Multnomah County gang assessment by coordinating entry from multiple systems of care and public safety using trauma-informed and data-driven decision making, while also addressing root causes of violence in our community and intervening at the first sign of risk and respond effectively when violence does occur as well as repair, strengthen and restore our youth, families, and communities that have been affected by violence while reducing recidivism rates for youth in our focus population.
Increase coordination of entry from multiple systems of care and public safety to increase funding for services that are asset and community-based, culturally relevant, and trauma informed that will create effective and efficient investments between the city and county budgets.
Mobilize community to ensure access to developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive mentors for youth experiencing risk factors for gang involvement to intervene at the first sign of risk and respond effectively to youth needs.
Coordinate with and leverage the efforts of multiple stakeholders to achieve better educational outcomes for youth by connecting with efforts that reduce disparities in school exclusion, expand trauma informed restorative justice practices and support and enhance school re-connection strategies.
Increase economic opportunities and promote resiliency by advocating for year-around access to culturally responsive job readiness and employment or internship opportunities for youth experiencing risk factors for gang involvement.
Enhance parent voice and engagement to protect families against risk factors for gang involvement and identify resources for stability, advocacy and mobilization for parents and/or caregivers.
Promote opportunities for police and communities to build positive relationships and establish accountability for quality interaction and meaningful dialogue that is evidence-based, culturally responsive.
