Please be ready to list all schedule conflicts. This includes all dentist/doctor/orthodontist appointments, vacations, special events, and other extracurriculars that cannot be rescheduled around our rehearsal times.
The Spring Musical tech crew schedule conflicts with parts of WRESTLING, GIRLS BASKETBALL, and all of TRACK. If in tech crew, participation in those sports may affect your role due to our rehearsal schedule.
Assistant director and stage manager are MAJOR POSITIONS. Participation in these sports won't be possible in those roles.
Rehearsals will be Monday-Thursday from 3:00pm-5:00pm, starting February 23rd, with rehearsals going 6:00pm or 7:30pm during tech week and show week. The tech crew schedule is different depending on the role.

Welcome to your tech crew interview. We want to learn how you work with others, how you stay calm, and how you solve problems. There are no right or wrong answers—we just want to get to know you.
1. Why do you want to join the tech crew?
2. What is something you think you are good at that would help a backstage team?
3. Tell us about a time you were responsible for something.
4. Tell us about a time you solved a problem with someone else.
5. Tech crews need to work quietly and calmly. How do you work with others when you are trying to focus?
6. Tell me about a time something didn’t go the way you planned and you had to fix it or change your idea.
7. Why do you think safety is important backstage? What would you do if you saw someone not being safe?
· Lights: Lights cues have exact timing. How do you stay focused when you need to do something at the right moment?
· Sound: Have you used microphones, speakers, or any kind of audio equipment before? (this is not a requirement, just curious)
· Run Crew: Are you comfortable working quietly in the dark?
· Stage Crew/Props: How would you keep track of lots of props that look similar?
· Stage Management: How do you stay organized with schoolwork, chores, or activities?
Just be honest and do your best. We’re excited you’re here.
You are encouraged to Dress Smart for the interview. You want to make a great first impression. This can be all black, like tech crew would wear, or more formal interview clothes. Anything that makes you look/feel your best. ☺️
Interviews will be scheduled from 3:00-5:00pm
Each interview should last about 10 minutes per person.
Mr. Hickox will work to send out an interview schedule the day before with the time of your interview, so that you can plan accordingly.
After interviews the tech team and Mr. Hickox decide who will be a part of tech crew this year. This is a group effort with Mr. Hickox having the final say as the director. Since Mr. Hickox is not back stage during performances he leans on his back stage tech team heavily for their perspective and opinion.
PLEASE NOTE: It's totally okay to be disappointed if you don't get the role you wanted, but we ask that if you accept an offered role, you take the time to process old expectations and then show up fully ready to grow from the role offered.
Tech offers will be sent via Schoology sometime on February 12th. It's important that you get back to Mr. Hickox ASAP, either accepting or rejecting the offer. If an offer is rejected, you will not be given another offer and will not be on tech crew in this year's musical.
Once all tech crew offers have been accepted, messages will be sent out to the remaining interviewers letting them know they did not make crew for this year's musical.
If you aren't on crew this year, don't give up! Each year, a new show brings new opportunities and possibilities. Not getting on crew one year doesn't mean you won't get in next year! Try, try again. Each interview opportunity is great practice and healthy risk-taking.
