The 2025-2026 application is now closed. Our 2026-27 application window will open in Spring of 2026
We are thrilled to open the application for our 2nd cohort of Bayfront's Early College High School program. This program will allow a small group of students to opt in to take college courses through our CCAP program (on Bayfront's campus) as well as through concurrent enrollment, with the goal of completing college transfer requirements and their high school diploma by the end of their senior year.
Students in this program will still apply to University of California and California State University schools as freshmen, but once their transcripts are evaluated they may be considered second- or third-year rather than first-year students. Students who attend a community college will have completed 43 of the 60 credits required to earn an Associate's Degree. Whatever the student's goal, being a part of this pilot program allows students to graduate with significant college credits, guided by a school counselor, which will shorten their college journey and allow them to explore different career and academic areas while also completing their graduation requirements.
California Education Code (EC)Section 11302 declares that Early College High Schools (ECHS) are innovative partnerships between charter or non-charter public secondary schools and a local community college that allow pupils to earn a high school diploma and up to two years of college credit in four years or less.
ECHS facilitate a greater participation of at-risk, low-income, and students of color in college level courses. ECHS potentially decrease high school drop-out rates while increasing students’ access to post-secondary education. Students are rewarded for hard work by the opportunity to accelerate at typically minor cost to the student.
