We believe in building strong partnerships that are goal-driven to increase student achievement.
We recognize that we all come to the table with varied skills and experiences and we are here to learn together.

At MTS coaching is available for ALL staff. Teachers are able to reach out to coaches at any time for support in lesson planning, unit planning, lesson delivery, assessment, data analysis, collaborative team support and much more. Additionally, at MTS we ensure ALL students receive and participate in student centered coaching. To accomplish this goal coaching is required for all Math teachers, ELA teachers, and any new to MTS teachers (for the 1st year only).

Coaching will always be...
• confidential
• non-evaluative
• student growth focused
• data driven
Coaching cycles will align with a unit of study and last for 4-6 weeks or the length of your unit depending on what works best for you, your students and your coach.
Coaches will use the pacing guides provided by your grade and subject level teams to help determine when to begin coaching cycles. You will receive an email from your coach prior to the start of your coaching cycle to schedule a kick off meeting.
During a coaching cycle you can expect to meet with your coach during your planning period 1-2 times per week. Your cycle meetings will begin by setting a student-centered standards-based goal. After that, you will plan lessons, review student work and analyze data with your coach. You can also expect to co-teach the lessons you plan at least once per week.
In traditional models of co-teaching, coaches modeled strategies and teachers watched them teach but times have changed and we are partners, not experts! In our model of co-teaching, we will be teaching right there with you. We will plan lessons together and teach those lessons together with students. We will be using the co-teaching moves in the table linked to the right fluidly during our co-teaching. We may use many or few strategies during a lesson, depending on the ebb and flow of the class, our lesson, and how the instruction is going. Co-teaching will be fun, interactive and will give an opportunity for the students to also see their teacher collaborate, reflect and be a lifelong learner.
