The Physical Education class is a seventh-grade co-educational course that meets five days per week for one marking period, a total of nine weeks per school year. This course is designed to:
Introduce students to different motor skills, movement patterns, knowledge, and skill-building experiences.
Introduce students to movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics.
Promote an understanding of differences among people in physical activity settings.
Contribute to the student’s development of a healthy lifestyle.
Reinforce the habit of regularly participating in physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, or social interaction.
The class focuses on teaching students how to enjoy participating in various activities for the social, emotional, psychological, and physical benefits provided. Active engagement is the most critical aspect of physical education class, not skill development or performance.
PE: The PE curriculum utilizes a variety of activities to emphasize active engagement rather than performance evaluation. Physical education activities include, but are not limited to:
Soccer
Basketball
Floor Hockey
Tchoukball
Badminton
Engleball
Handball

Educate students on different body systems and exercise's effects on each system.
Introduce students to different principles related to fitness.
Provide a foundation for nutrition and the effects it has on the body.
Introduce students to a wide range of motor skills and functional exercises.
Teach students fundamental exercise techniques and basic workout structures.
Apply fitness concepts learned in health class to practical use in a gym setting.
This course is divided into two different components, Fitness and Health. The Fitness aspect of the class meets in the fitness center while the Health aspect meets in a classroom.
Health: Occurs every Tuesday and Thursday in a classroom setting. The
Health curriculum educates students on the following:
Cardio-Respiratory System
Muscular and Skeletal System
Principles of Fitness
Nutrition
Fitness: Occurs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the fitness center. The fitness class applies classroom knowledge to a real-life experience. The focus of the fitness activity is to engage students in a variety of workouts to improve their overall fitness level. Heart rate monitors will be used for all workouts to assess the effort level of the student.
Each fitness class will include the following:
Warm-up
Anaerobic (various HIIT workouts) and Aerobic Assessments
Cool Down
