REMOTE LEARNING GRADING GUIDELINES
(Applies to 6th Six Weeks Only)
In an effort to alleviate stress among students, students’ families, and teachers working remotely, and to meet the school district requirements posted by the Texas Education Agency, Mount Vernon ISD teachers are following the grading guidelines below:

Students will receive one
grade each week in each subject or course.

Grade entered will be a valuable grade that reflects the student’s academic performance in content area.

The method of grading may be varied based on age of student and family needs such as phone conference discussion, picture of work taken by phone, verbal feedback during online meeting, paper assignment, etc.

All grades will be entered as a daily grade; no test category will be used.
*
Numeric grades will be entered in the 6th six weeks cycle and can be viewed through Parent Portal.
FINAL GRADE CALCULATION FOR PROMOTION/RETENTION & HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT
Mount Vernon ISD has adjusted the Semester 2 grade averaging calculation t
o ensure any remote learning constraints do not excessively impact a student’s final grade.

Maintain numeric grade system to be consistent with the prior grades recorded in Grade Reporting and final grade averaging.
*
Semester 2 grade average calculation: 4th six weeks 40%, 5th six weeks 40%, 6th six weeks 20%, no semester exam entered.
*
Final grade: Average of Semester 1 and Semester 2
