Smart & Autonomous Drone System
Background
In this project, A simulation environment was developed to model a multi-drone system. This was necessary in order to capture the process of oil spill detection in controlled environment. Performing tests in a simulated environment has several advantages that include:
Testing multi-drone strategies related to data acquisition, consensus-based formation control, and decision making.
Having a sophisticated and well-prepared simulated environment assists in anticipating and addressing potential technical challenges prior to field tests. Such challenges include battery lifetime, which directly impact the duration of the mission and the covered distance.
The flexibility of testing several cases of oil spill detection, which results in cost-cutting and saving time
